Short Vita
I’m an MA Sociology student at Freie Universität Berlin. Completed my BA degree at Friedrich-Schiller Universität in Jena. Here working on the research unit Mapping Civil Society Initiatives.
What I find exciting about this research initiative
The project takes an innovative approach, trying to tackle the dynamic character of social cohesion when looking at interactions, and thus moving beyond conventional approaches of solidarity, trust, sense of belonging etc. Civil society is one scene of action, as positively connoted and often assumed to contribute to social cohesion, but does not necessarily have to. Consequently, it is the common perception of a societal polarization in the face of profound changes and challenges, such as the climate crisis or the COVID19 pandemic, that (im-) pose questions of the state and dynamics of civil society and social cohesion.
What my discipline can contribute to this research initiative
Measure and make comprehensible what is otherwise only latently and subjectively perceived.
